IPAC Profile
Intellectual Property Association of Cambodia known as “IPAC” is the first association on intellectual property in Cambodia founded by a group of qualified trademark agents, patent and industrial practitioners, attorneys at law and professors in fields of intellectual property.
The objective of the Association, according to its statutes, is to promote and protect the rights to trademarks, patents, industrial designs and copyrights and other forms intellectual property rights in the Kingdom of Cambodia. IPAC aims to contribute to the development of law enforcement and legal standards regarding intellectual property issues in the Kingdom through training, promoting and enforcing intellectual property laws.
About IPAC Background
The Intellectual Property Association of Cambodia was established on 05 July 2016 by a group of qualified trademark agents, patent and industrial design practitioners, attorney s at law and professors with strong support from the Ministry of Commerce. From 2013 onwards, the Ministry of Commerce has trained hundreds of trademark, patent and industrial design practitioners, students, and government officers. By having the same vision and mission, the qualified trademark agents, patent and industrial design practitioners, attorneys at law and professors decided to establish the intellectual property association in Cambodia. A Task Force was established to prepare and manage paperwork with the relevant Ministry.
On February 02, 2015, the Board of Directors of the Intellectual Property Association of Cambodia was elected. A year later, there was a Presidency election for forming and registering the IPAC with the Ministry of Interior as a non-profit organization The election was held at the Ministry of Commerce and chaired by H.E. Van Roth San, an advisor to the Ministry of Commerce and Mr. Sim Sokkheng, the former Director of the Department of Intellectual Property.
